Health Alerts

Great day to hike yesterday ! The Health Alert signs were posted at both trailheads where the AT goes under I 26. Also one at the Hog Back Ridge shelter.
I confirmed the location of the site...it's about 1/2 mile east of the trail on south side of Hgwy 23. Two older houses, a white canvas "greenhouse", and about a dozen vehicles some of which looked like they have not been driven recently.
Some three or four years ago there were small posters stuck on these same trailheads advertising this place. It didn't look good then either so I
removed them. Will the AT Guide make note of this warning ?

This section ( Sams to Rice ) in fine shape. Did some lopping, cut one small blowdown on the path to the shelter's water source and removed a wee bit of litter. Plan to do some Spring cleaning and reblaze in early ' 07. Privy pile now about 7 inches shorter.

Shelter journal indicated a few south bounders during the last five weeks, a couple of section hikers and some day trippers
