Ashok Kudva organized the CMC booth at the Black Mountain hike festival on Saturday, 5/5/2007, in concert with the Great Southeastern Hike Festival at Montreat. We presented our theme " Hike, save trails and make friends" with some trail-building tools, a poster of the CMC webpage and some photographs of hiking and trail-building activities. We also displayed books, maps, Let's Go, new Let's Hike brochure which attracted 6 new members. Trail-maintainers Jeff and Janet Dektor (see Janet explaining our club to a visitor in the photo), Jeanie Danner, Jane Apple, Kathy Kyle, Michael Cornn, Stuart English, Jean Gard, Greg Goodman, Chris Ogden and Ashok Kudva staffed the CMC booth for 8 hours in teams of 3 to explain CMC mission and activities. Friends of MST, who had a table next to us, provided a tent for us which pulled us and our visitors through the rainy day!

The Conservation Committee [Danny Bernstein, Rachel Doughty, Ruth Hartzler and Becky Smucker] led a panel discussion on Creating a Conservation Committee for your club. See the outline of our presentation.

Bruce Bente organized all the hikes for the four days and led a hike. In addition, the following leaders led hikes for the festival: Danny Bernstein,
Tom Bindrim, Barth Brooker, Charlie Ferguson, Ruth Hartzler, Ashok Kudva, Gerry McNabb, Chip Miller, Joanne Tulip and Dave Wetmore. In addition, we want to acknowledge Barth Brooker and the CMC maintenance crews. Bruce sent the Festival hike schedule to Barth, and he assigned crews to clear every trail that the festival covered.
