First ATC Regional Partnership Committee Meeting, Nov 6, 2004

The first Regional Partnership Committee (RPC) meeting was held in Asheville on Nov 6. There were 18 attendees from the ATPO, ATC, FS and the Southern Regional AT Trail Maintenance Clubs. Don Walton is the CMC Committee representative for a 2 year term and Howard McDonald, also in attendance is the alternate. There are 4 regional RPC's organized along the AT. The purpose of the RPC is to advise the ATC Regional Director, the regions trail maintaining clubs, the regions agencies and to provide direct two way communication between the ATC regional office and the constituent clubs and agencies. There will be two meetings per year with the next scheduled April 1-3. The committee discussed and set up structure for future meetings, discussed the organization of the new Trail Stewardship Committee, strategic changes and ATC, Regional Office Operations and trail management issues. It was also announced at the meeting that Morgan Sommerville has been selected for the new Regional Director Position. Congratulations to Morgan!
